Secretary II – Student Services & Curriculum Office

Schodack Central School District is seeking a full-time Secretary II to work in its Student Services & Curriculum Office.

This is a Competitive Civil Service position. The successful candidate must meet the minimum qualifications (see below) and take the Secretary II Civil Service Exam unless it is waived through NY Helps. See a general expectation of duties in the Civil Service description.

  • Start Date: As soon as possible

Building Maintenance Mechanic

Schodack Central School District is seeking a full-time Building Maintenance Mechanic to join its Facilities Department. Key focus areas of this position include carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen equipment and preventative maintenance.

This is a Non-Competitive Class Civil Service position. See the general expectation of duties in the Civil Service description.

  • Tentative Start Date: September 7, 2026
  • Schedule: 1:30–10:00 PM
  • Compensation: $26.61 per hour
  • Benefits: Health, Dental & Vision Insurance; NYS Retirement; 403b; 457b; Paid Vacation, Sick & Personal Time
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • 1 year of journeyman experience in a recognized skilled trade OR
    • 4 years of experience in general building construction or standard building trades (such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical) OR
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience

School Bus Driver (4 Hours per day)*

Schodack Central School District is seeking a School Bus Driver to work in its Transportation Department four (4) hours per day. See the general expectations of duties in the Civil Service job description.

  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Schedule: 4 hours per day
  • Compensation: $28.49 per hour
  • Qualifications
    • CDL Class B driver’s license
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Ability to safely operate a bus on an assigned route
    • Ability to maintain orderly conduct of children on the bus
    • Automotive knowledge and related work as required

*Potential Full-time Position

The School Bus Driver position can be combined with the Automotive Mechanic position (see below) into one full-time position for a qualified candidate.

This full-time position would be eligible for the following benefits: Health, Dental & Vision Insurance; NYS Retirement; 403b; 457b; Paid Vacation, Sick & Personal Time; 14 Paid Holidays.

  • Compensation: $32.90 per hour
  • Qualifications:
    • Two (2) years of experience as a skilled automotive repairman OR
    • Any equivalent combination of training/experience

Teaching Assistants (4 Hours Per Day)

Schodack Central School District currently has three (3) open Teaching Assistant positions. All positions are four (4) hours per day. More information about qualifications and responsibilities is available in the full job description.

  • Schedule: 4 hours per day
  • Compensation:
    • $22.24 per hour (starting rate for certified Teaching Assistants)
    • $17.79 per hour (starting rate for certified Teaching Assistants)

Substitute Positions

Substitute Teachers

Teacher certification is not required. An instructional substitute application is available here.

  • Non-Certified Teacher Pay Rate: $120/Day
  • Certified Teacher Pay Rate: $135/Day
  • Retired Teacher Pay Rate: $145/Day

Substitute Teaching Assistants & Aides

Substitute TAs work with teachers or at the direction of the school principal. Shifts are 4-hour or full-day, depending on need. A high school diploma is required. An instructional substitute application is available here.
  • Classroom Personnel Pay Rate: $16.50/Hour

Substitute Bus Drivers

You must have a clean driving record. Training will be provided to qualified applicants. A non-instructional substitute application is available here.

  • School Bus Driver Pay Rate: $23.50/Hour
  • School Bus Attendant Pay Rate: $16.50/Hour
  • Retired School Bus Driver Pay Rate: $29.80/Hour

Substitute Custodial Staff

Cleaning experience is preferred but not required. A non-instructional substitute application is available here.

  • Maintenance Personnel Pay Rate: $16.50/Hour

Substitute Nurses

Both RNs and LPNs may apply. A non-instructional substitute application is available here.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) Pay Rate: $28.58/Hour
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Pay Rate: $19.34/Hour
