Dear Maple Hill Families,

In our continuing efforts to support the well-being of all our students, we are administering a social, emotional & behavioral health universal screener. Our district is using the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 (BIMAS-2) research-based screening tool. The focus of this universal screener is to increase support systems for students at Maple Hill. We believe this will help all of our students thrive academically by identifying students who may benefit from additional social and emotional support and interventions, much like some students benefit from additional academic support and interventions.

By conducting the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 (BIMAS-2), we are able to determine which students may need help with social and emotional skills and provide them with assistance prior to minor challenges becoming major issues.  This is a screening tool to assist students in being the best student they can be and is not intended for diagnostic purposes or special education classification.  The information provided helps us understand the needs of all our students and how we can best serve and support them.

In order to use this information effectively, we need your help.  By the end of Monday, February 27th, you will be receiving an email with a link to a survey for you to complete.  If you have multiple school-age children, you will receive an email per child.  You will have access to this link until Friday, March 3rd to complete this survey regarding your child.

We appreciate your feedback and time to complete this screener and provide us with valuable information to best support your child in the school setting.  If you do not receive the email containing the link or you have any further questions or concerns, please contact me at jbreh@schodack.k12.ny.us.

Thank you,
