Dear Castleton Elementary Families,

We are always looking for ways to best support our students and their families and are committed to using data to make decisions about how to best meet those needs. A few weeks ago, you received a letter introducing a new screening tool to identify any student whose behavior may impact their success in school. By conducting the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System (BIMAS), we are able to determine which students may need help with social and emotional skills and provide them with early intervention to help foster the development of those skills. If your student is eligible to receive any services or additional support, you will be notified. The results of the screening are not intended for diagnostic purposes or special education classification.

In order to use this information effectively, we need your help.  By the end of Monday, February 27th, you will be receiving an email with a link to a survey for you to complete.  If you have multiple school-age children, you will receive an email per child.  You will have access to this link until Friday, March 3rd to complete this survey regarding your child.

We appreciate your feedback and time to complete this and provide us with valuable information to best support your child in the school setting.  If you do not receive the email containing the link or you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us at 518-732-7755.

Thank you,

James L. Derby
Principal, Castleton Elementary School
