Dear Schodack CSD Community,
I am writing to let you know of a staffing change in our Athletics Department. Our Athletic Director for the past year, Daniel Bentley, will be stepping down from that role since he has accepted a full-time Physical Education Teacher position at Castleton Elementary. After interviewing both internal and external candidates, I am happy to announce we have selected April Smith as our next Athletic Director.
Many of you are already familiar with Ms. Smith since she has been working here in Schodack for several years as a Physical Education and Health Teacher at both of our schools. Her experience and familiarity with our district, students, families and faculty/staff will make her an excellent fit as Athletic Director.
Ms. Smith was appointed as Athletic Director at last night’s (August 10) Board of Education meeting. She has been working closely with Mr. Bentley over the summer to seamlessly transition into the role and ensure the Fall 2023 Athletics Season starts without any interruptions.
A reminder that today (August 11) is the registration deadline for grade 7-12 students interested in playing fall sports. Full registration information is available on our website here. Finally, please also join me in thanking Mr. Bentley for his dedicated work as Athletic Director over the past year. We are very happy that he will remain a member of our Schodack community in his new teaching position at CES.
