Schodack CSD Families,
We want to bring your attention to a concerning trend currently circulating on TikTok that poses a serious risk to student safety and school-issued technology devices. The TikTok trend involves students inserting pencils, paperclips and other objects into the USB ports of school-issued Chromebooks, which can easily result in overheating, smoke, and even fire.
We ask that you please speak with your students about the risks and consequences of participating in such a trend.
This behavior is extremely dangerous and violates our district’s Code of Conduct. Any student found engaging in this activity will face disciplinary consequences in accordance with our Code of Conduct. Additionally, school families will be held financially responsible for repairing or replacing any damaged school-issued technology devices.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and continued partnership in keeping our school community safe.
