Dear Schodack Community,

As you know by now, Castleton Elementary School’s Assistant Principal Nicole Martin has accepted a new position with Catskill Central School District as Coordinator of Special Education. Her last day in Schodack is this Friday, December 23. As we prepare to see Ms. Martin off at the end of this week, I wanted to let you know we have chosen the next Assistant Principal of Castleton Elementary: Kara Likar.

Ms. Likar was appointed at last week’s board meeting on Thursday, December 15, and she will start her new role with us here in Schodack on Tuesday, January 17.

We were very impressed by Ms. Likar during the interview process and she was chosen as the successful candidate by a panel of CES and district faculty/staff as well as CES parents. She comes to Schodack from Shenendehowa Central School District, where she has been teaching since 2005. During that time she has balanced her teaching responsibilities with professional development, receiving a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building Leadership from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and completing an Administrative Internship at Acadia Middle School.

We will introduce families further to Ms. Likar after she officially starts at CES but I wanted to let you know about her appointment and start date before the holiday recess. I look forward to the CES community meeting her soon and if you would like to welcome her in the meantime, you can email her (klikar@schodack.k12.ny.us).

Finally, please also join me in thanking Ms. Martin for helping Mr. Derby provide leadership and guidance during her time at CES. We know she will do great things for Catskill, just as she has done for Schodack.

Sincerely,

Jason M. Chevrier
Superintendent of Schools
Schodack Central School District
