PICTURES: Author/Illustrator Dan Yaccarino Visits CES!

Castleton Elementary School K-3 students were very lucky to get a special visit from author/illustrator Dan Yaccarino!

Dan has written and illustrated many, many cool books like The Longest Storm, Boy + Bot and his most recent book, City Under the City. In addition to being an author/illustrator, Dan also created the animated television series Oswald and designed the characters for the animated series The Backyardigans.

Dan visited with CES students over the course of two presentations, one with K-1 students and the other with grades 2-3. He spoke with them about how he came to be a professional author, walked them through some of the details & hidden secrets of City Under the City (but not too many – still want them to find more when they read it!) and created some impressive illustrations on the spot. Students were given a chance to ask Dan some of their questions and also get his autograph if they preordered some of his books. Thank you to Dan Yaccarino for his visit and thank you to CES Librarian Stacey Rattner for organizing another fun author visit for CES students!
