The launch party for the Maple Hill Writers’ Lab took place on Thursday, October 27! Grade 7-12 students were invited to the kickoff event for this new extracurricular program organized by the Maple Hill English Department. The Writers’ Lab is a great opportunity for our students looking to sharpen their writing skills in an engaging and collaborative way. The launch party was an amazing way to jumpstart the program and the evening included:
- A special visit and keynote speech from author Jana Laiz (many thanks to Jana for her time and her visit!)
- Q&A’s with Russell Sage writing tutors
- Breakout writing exercises
- And snacks and drinks!
Maple Hill students have been receiving training from Maureen Gokey (the program’s Russell Sage Writing Consultant) to be writing tutors and beginning on November 14, they will work with their peers who need help with writing assignments in any subject. Russell Sage writing tutors and Mrs. Gokey will continue collaborating with the Maple Hill Writers’ Lab throughout the school year
Any Maple Hill students interested in learning more about the Maple Hill Writer’s Lab just need to speak with any Maple Hill English teacher for more information.
