Dear Maple Hill Jr./Sr. High School Family Members,
In our continuing efforts to support the well-being of all of our students, we will be administering a universal screening of behavioral health to all 7th-11th grade students. This consists of a brief online self-assessment rating scale (Behavioral Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-BIMAS) that will be completed by students. This will help us to better understand the behavioral and social/emotional needs of all our students, which will allow for the development of a more effective school, classroom and individual intervention plans. This universal screening will become a part of our ongoing processes to monitor and support our students’ overall health and well-being. It is important that your child feel that academic learning is their focus at school and that the adults they work with each day are doing all they can to create a safe and supportive environment.
If you would like more information about the universal screening and the other supports we have in our district please reach out to Jacqueline Hill, Principal, or Jennifer Delaney, School Psychologist. There is also the option we present to all families for their child to not participate in the screener. If that is your choice, please request an opt-out form by emailing Ms. Hill by Thursday, May 26, 2022.
