Families interested in enrolling their K-8 students in the Town of Schodack Day Camp during Summer 2022 can find all the information they need below. This four-week program is based on-site in Schodack schools.
The Town of Schodack is back to running a full day Day Camp with transportation and Field Trips. Camp will run from July 11 through August 5, 2022. For more information please go to the Town of Schodack website at wwww.schodack.org and click on Youth and Recreation.
The Town of Schodack Day Camp is a four-week program that is available to all resident children in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. The program begins the first Monday after the fourth of July and runs for four consecutive weeks. Camp hours for grades K-3 will run from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., and for grades 4-8 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Campers enjoy a variety of activities including, but not limited to: swimming, arts and crafts, sports, dance, music, organized games and theater. The 2022 camp session will be a full day and run from July 11, 2022, through August 5, 2022.
Campers in grades Kindergarten through third are housed at the Castleton Elementary School. Campers in grades fourth through eighth are housed at the Maple Hill Middle School. Busing is available and can be obtained by filling out and returning the transportation request form with the registration application.
Camper applications are available online or at the Town Hall beginning May 1st. All completed applications are due back to the Town Hall no later than June 1st. All updated immunization forms are required at the time of registration. Applications will not be accepted without proof of immunization. Please obtain these records from your family physician, the school will not be able to provide copies to the camp. The cost of the camp is $125.00 per child with a family maximum payment of $325.00 for three or more children. All field trips and freeze pops will be covered by the registration fee.
Checks should be made out to: Town of Schodack Recreation. All applications received by June 1, 2022, will be registered for camp, you will not receive anything in the mail.
Due to the complexity of the bus system and planning for specialized activities, late applications will not be accepted. Transportation forms must be filled out at the time of registration. All necessary forms, calendars, and contact information can be obtained online at www.Schodack.org, or at the Schodack Town Hall beginning May 1st.
Applications can be dropped off at the Town Hall or mailed to: Sheila Golden Schodack Town Hall 265 Schuurman Rd. Castleton, N.Y. 12033. Emailed/faxed applications or immunizations will not be accepted as hard copies are required.
The Town of Schodack Day Camp employs four Site Directors, a Water Safety Instructor, a STEM Director and a Transportation Director. All seven Directors hold a Masters’s Degree in Education and have at least five years of teaching or camp experience. There is also a registered nurse on staff at all times.
The Town of Schodack Day Camp is divided into four different sites. Camp is tailored to meet the interest and abilities of each age group. Campsites and locations are as follows:
- Kindergarten and First grade – Castleton Elementary
- Second and Third grade – Castleton Elementary
- Fourth and Fifth grade— Maple Hill Middle School
- Sixth through Eighth grade—Maple Hill Middle School
This year in lieu of swimming campers will travel to the Schodack Town Park every other day to participate in a variety of STEM activities. Some STEM activities will involve water, so campers will need to wear bathing suits to camp on these days. A lifeguard will be onsite daily during camp hours.
