To recognize the achievements of its students, Maple Hill Jr./Sr. High School presents Student of the Quarter Awards at the end of each quarter of the school year. Students may be nominated for this award by any staff member, a representative of a community organization, a parent or another student. Students may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement, for service to the school or community or for significant improvement in school. Each quarter one student in each grade, 7-12, is selected for this award by a faculty committee after a review of all nominations.
Arletta Phelan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Phelan was nominated for being a pleasure to have in class. She always is on task and engaged in classroom discussion. She goes out of her way to make sure other students around her understand the work going on in class. Here at Maple Hill, Arletta plays on the soccer and track teams. After high school, Arletta might want to open up her own bakery or become a nurse someday!
Gabriel Price, son of Ms. Shiho Price, was nominated for being a polite, kind student who enjoys engaging with those around him. He always greets his teachers and peers in the hallway and in class. Here at Maple Hill, Gabriel’s favorite subject is Technology because there are so many different things to learn and activities to do in that class. Ben shows he cares about his learning by diligently completing his coursework and actively participating in class discussions. Here at Maple Hill, Ben is a part of both indoor and outdoor track and he also plays on the soccer team. After high school, Ben would like to go to college but he’s not sure what for yet; he would also like to run track in college.
Jacob Fish, son of Mr. Jeremy and Mrs. Amanda Fish was nominated for being such a joy to teach! He is always not only attentive in class, but he is also a top participant and consistently adds to class discussion. He strives to do his best and has the confidence to ask questions when he needs clarification. Here at Maple Hill, Jacob is on the JV basketball team. After high school, Jacob would like to go to college but is unsure what for, but is looking forward to the college experience.
