Shout out to our 7th graders for raising +$1,000 to support Water for South Sudan! 7th graders started fundraising for WFSS this past fall after they read A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park in Ms. Fowler’s ELA class. The book details the everyday struggles of accessing clean/safe water in South Sudan by interweaving two stories, one of which is about Salva Dut, a real-life former “Lost Boy” of South Sudan who resettled in Rochester, NY.

A very cool bonus for the 7th graders’ fundraising effort: Maple Hill will be entered in WFSS’s annual challenge where any school that raises at least $1,000 is entered to win a visit from Salva Dut or Linda Sue Park!
