Maple Hill is very proud to announce the outstanding accomplishments of two students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program: Jace Tuttle and Tobiah Gieser!

Tobiah Gieser and Jace Tuttle

Tobiah Gieser (L) and Jace Tuttle (R)

Students entered the National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation, by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).  34,000 high performers have been named Commended Students, based on a national Selection Index score, applicable to all program participants.  Participants who scored at or above the Commended Student Selection Index score, but below their state Semifinalist Selection Index score, are named Commended Students in recognition of their exceptional academic promise.   We are proud to congratulate our Commended Student, Jace Tuttle, for this outstanding achievement.

From there, 16,000 of the highest-ranking entrants of the National Merit Scholarship Program have been named Semifinalists, qualifying to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships.   These students are the highest-scoring entrants in each state and represent less than 1 percent of each state’s high school seniors.  Semifinalists must meet additional standards and fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.  We are proud to announce that Tobiah Gieser has been named Semifinalist and we wish him luck as he continues in the competition.
