The Schodack Central School District food service team is looking forward to serving our students nutritious meals for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. As with all things, food service will look different and we have important information to share with our students and families.
Recent federal and state decisions now allow the District to temporarily serve free meals to all students K-12 until at least December 31, 2020. This decision is subject to change at the federal government’s discretion. The District still requires that households complete applications for free and reduced meals as usual and return them as soon as possible in the event that federal and state guidelines change. At this time, one breakfast and one lunch each day will be provided at no cost. Additional food items will be charged.
The District will provide meals to in-person students as well as remote students, whether they are fully remote or hybrid.
See below for a breakdown of what students will encounter depending on their mode of instruction.
REMOTE / HYBRID AT HOME STUDENTS
Students who are learning in a remote setting are entitled to free breakfast and lunch each day. Students will access a link to a Google order form (below), which must be completed each Thursday by 5:00 p.m. for the upcoming week. Please note that selections from this menu will not be the same as what is on the monthly menu located on the District website.

All students K-12 who fill out the form can pick up their breakfast and lunch each morning from 8:30-9:00 a.m. in front of the Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium doors each day.
IN-PERSON ELEMENTARY
Castleton Elementary students who are learning in-person will be asked by their teachers to make a selection for snack milk (chargeable) and lunch (free) based on the monthly lunch menu found on the District website. Food items will be delivered to students in their classrooms, where they will consume them.
Breakfast for in-person students will be grab-and-go style as they enter the building. While one breakfast and one lunch are free, please note that if students want additional food items, they will be billed.
IN-PERSON JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL
Maple Hill High School students will receive their lunch through a traditional food service line while practicing acceptable social distancing. In-person students will be able to choose from food items listed on the monthly menu located on the District website.
Breakfast for in-person students will be grab-and-go style as they enter the building. Please note that if students want additional food items not included in the one breakfast and one lunch, they will be charged.
