School Canceled Until Wednesday, April 29
Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended the school closing for all New York schools until Wednesday, April 29.
The closure may be extended again. We will keep our community updated of any developments.

June Regents Exams Canceled
The Board of Regents has announced that June Regents Exams are canceled for this year.
Free Meals Available for Students
Grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches are available for any student who wants them during the school closure.
Pickup location is Castleton Elementary School at the cafeteria doors on the bus loop side of the building from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Monday through Friday.

Playgrounds and Basketball Courts Closed
All district playgrounds and basketball courts are closed during the school closure by order of New York State to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Mental Health and Wellness Resources
Parents looking for resources about how to talk to students about the pandemic or their own mental health and wellness resources are encouraged to visit the sites below created by our social workers, counselors and school psychologists.
Capital District YMCA Providing Childcare for Essential Workers
The YMCA is providing childcare services for essential workers who do not have the option to work from home, as defined by the NYS Education Department. More information here.
Families facing technology challenges during school closure are asked to fill out this survey so we can help.
Section 2 has postponed all spring activities through April 19. All sports practices are canceled until further notice.
Grades 3-8 Assessments Suspended
New York State has suspended the Grades 3-8 ELA and Math assessments this school year.
Rensselaer County Recovery Helpline
Anyone who needs help with substance use issues is urged to contact the Rensselaer County Recovery Helpline at 1-833-467-3123.

The Northern Rivers Family of Services offer support for individuals and families who are experiencing a mental health or behavioral crisis. Call 518-292-5499.
