The Board of Education met Jan. 16 for its monthly meeting. Here is a summary. Additional details and Board presentations available on BoardDocs website.

  • The Board heard results of a Pupil Transportation Management Study that examined the district’s shared service transportation program with Rensselaer City School District. Presentation available here.
  • The district started its discussion of the 2020-21 school budget process with a presentation of a rollover budget (a starting place budget with no change to staffing or programming). Building and department leaders also presented highlights, challenges and initial budget requests. Presentation available here.
  • Maple Hill Jr./Sr. High School leaders gave a building update, including highlighting the Drama Club performances and how well the new sound and lighting improvements in the auditorium worked.
  • Castleton Elementary School leaders gave a building update, including highlighting the Wellness Week that provided fun activities each day to promote and encourage physical and emotional well-being with students.

The next Board of Education meeting is Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School library. The public is always welcome to attend.
