Dear families:
Cold and flu season is upon us. We have students in multiple grade levels who have been diagnosed with the flu. In order to help prevent the spread of illness throughout the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, muscle/body aches, headaches, fatigue and occasionally vomiting or diarrhea.
Please keep your child home if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
- Fever (greater than 100 degrees (they may return once fever free without medication for 24 hours)
- Vomiting (even once)
- Diarrhea
- Chills
- General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
- Frequent congested or croupy cough
To help prevent the flu and other colds, please encourage your children to wash their hands frequently; not touch their eyes, nose or mouth; cover their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, use a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash hands and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
For more information you may refer to the Center for Disease Control’s website or contact your family healthcare provider.
Thank you,
