Students practice CPR

Maple Hill Jr./Sr. High School received a CPR training kit from the American Heart Association on Jan. 30 thanks to a donation from BlueShield of Northeastern New York.

The kit, which includes 10 CPR manikins, AED simulators, instructional DVDs and kneeling pads, will be used to teach students Hands-Only CPR with the goal of reducing the number of deaths caused by sudden cardiac arrest.

“New York State requires that we teach students CPR by the time they graduate,” explained Superintendent Jason Chevrier. “It’s great to have partners like the American Heart Association and BlueShield of Northeastern New York to provide this needed equipment.”

The donation from BlueShield of Northeastern New York is made possible because of their support of the American Heart Association’s mission to improve heart and brain health in the Capital Region.

“I am excited to be here today in your wonderful school. I think it’s great what the American Heart Association is doing,” said Keith Dolan, vice president, regional executive for BlueShield of Northeastern New York.
