Maple Hill Jr./Sr. High School held its 1st Annual Wellness Day today where students spent the day learning about more than 25 topics relating to mental health and wellness. The event was organized by the school’s Gr. 7-12 Mental Health Committee, a group consisting of students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Dozens of volunteers from the community, businesses and local agencies shared their expertise in areas such as Nutrition: Body Image and Overall Wellness, Calming Chemistry, Relational Wisdom, Keeping Out of Credit Card Debt, Meditation, Self-Care: Because You’re Worth It, and Maintaining Your Mental Wellness.
Helping students understand mental health and demystifying stigmas associated with the topic has become an increasingly important focus for schools. Last year, New York State became the first state in the country to require mental health be taught as part of health education.
Thank you to all our volunteers for spending your day with our students!
