Spring 2019 Schedule

Health & Fitness

Co-Ed Volleyball
Coordinator: Anthony Moak
Starts: Ongoing (Sundays)
Time: 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.
Location: HS Gym
Fee: Walk In $5
Join other intermediate players for an evening of fun and competitive volleyball play. This 10-week program offers no instruction, coaching or officiating; warm-ups and games will be self-monitored. Players should play at an intermediate to advanced-intermediate level to participate and must wear kneepads. Class size for this group is extremely limited.

Debi’s Aerobic Dance & Energy Activating Class
Instructor: Debi Filkins
Starts: Ongoing (Tuesdays & Thursdays)
Time: 7:00 to 8:15 p.m.
Location: District Office Building (former Maple Hill Middle School) Gym
Enjoy dance and energy activating techniques for your heart, health and happiness. On Tuesdays, this class overlaps with Debi’s Stretch class. Register directly with instructor Debi Filkins at 518-708-9238.

Hall Walkers
Starts: Ongoing (Every school night through the school year)
Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Location: District Office Building (former Maple Hill Middle School) Hallways
Fee: free, must pre-register& obtain ID badge
Walk in a safe, warm place – the Maple Hill Middle School! You can walk when you wish and at a pace that is comfortable for you. Walkers will be issued a special visitor’s badge to wear while in the building.

YMCA Spin Bike – Monday Nights
Instructor: Kim Doran, certified YMCA instructor
Starts: April 8 (Mondays for eight weeks)
Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: District Office Building (former Maple Hill Middle School) Spin Bike Room
Fee: $60
Spinning is an indoor group exercise cycling class. You will Spin to motivating music as the instructor takes you on the ride of your life. It will challenge and strengthen your cardiovascular system to the fullest extent. Be prepared to work up a sweat in this class!!

YMCA Spin Bike – Wednesday Nights
Instructor: George Zibbell, certified YMCA instructor
Dates: April 10 (Wednesdays for eight weeks)
Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: District Office Building (former Maple Hill Middle School) Spin Bike Room
Fee: $60

Chair Yoga
Instructor: Becky Raymond, MPH, RYT
Dates: April 29 (Mondays for six weeks)
Time: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Fee: $48
Chair yoga is a gentle but energizing form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. It allows the participant to experience the benefits of yoga without getting onto the floor. Chair Yoga creates an environment of safety to bring yoga’s integration of body/mind/spirit through varied levels of poses that honor each person’s ability… and it’s fun! Dress comfortably.

YMCA Beginner Level Yoga
Instructor: Becky Raymond, YMCA Certified Instructor
Dates: April 9 (Tuesdays for sixweeks)
Time: 7:00 to 8:15 p.m.
Location: CES Small Gym
Fee: $45
Yoga for Beginner Level is for individuals who are looking for an introduction to yoga or people with experience who prefer a slower, gentler class. Participants should wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat and a medium-weight blanket.

Intermediate Classical Yoga with Pilates
Instructor: Patricia McCarthy
Dates: April 11 (Thursdays for 10 weeks)
Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: CES Small Gym
Fee: $75
Classical Hatha yoga is ideal for encouraging mind-body connection, range of motion, and strengthening. A portion of class will be dedicated to classical Pilates to enhance balance, core strength, and graceful strength. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat.

Register In Person

  • Bring a completed registration form and check to the Continuing Education Office located in the District Office building (former Maple Hill Middle School), Room 303 at 1477 South Schodack Road weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • For certain exercise classes, registrations will also be accepted in person at the first night, but please call the Continuing Education Coordinator in advance.

Refunds

Registration in a class represents a commitment and instructors are hired based on the number of people registered. Therefore, refunds will only be issued if the class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, if the class is filled to maximum capacity, or injury.

Each class must meet a minimum enrollment. If a course is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, or over-enrolled, you will be notified by phone and/or mail and receive a full refund. The refund will be mailed to you in check form and may take several weeks to process.

Weather/Emergencies

Classes may be canceled due to weather or other emergencies. If the District closes the school, Continuing Education classes are also canceled. Every effort will be made by the class instructors and the Director of Continuing Education to contact all registered participants.
